Hey teens! Can't find something to do? Want to get involved more with Judaism AND friends? Yes? Maybe? Well we have a solution. BBYO is a Jewish Youth Group Movement (one of the largest in the world, actually) that is run by teens from the second half of 8th grade to the time they graduate from high school. Unlike other youth movements around the world, our Aventura chapter, like all others in the world, is youth led. This means that teens from high school are actually leading the weekly meetings that happen at 7 PM every Thursday at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center's modern meeting room.

Not only that, the goal of BBYO is to have fun, our goal is not just attending meetings every week, but accomplishing events, such as camping trips, going to a sporting event, doing community service, and even having a Friday night Shabbat at a member's home. We are able to accomplish this with the help of three BBYO advisers, that have very different heritages and careers which allows for our diverse activities. We also join the Miami Region, which our chapter is a part of, in events like shabbatons (which consists of 3 days in Key Largo having fun and learning about Jewish Heritage), a regional convention (which is another 3 days in a hotel in Miami where we simply have fun and get to know over 80 teens from all over Miami, teens like you and me), and also a convention where new and old members get to learn about BBYO in a fun three day weekend.

It can be a bit intimidating coming into a place you don't know full of strangers, but don't worry; we are always welcoming new members (about a new member a week), and if that is not enough, bring a friend along. So come out this Thursday, or the next, and see what this is all about!
