ATJC HEBREW HIGH
This program is geared toward all of our ATJC teens in 8th and 9th grades and features the nationally recognized Jewish education program “Moving Traditions.” This course is spread out over a five year span, in which Jewish-related content geared towards young women and young men, will take our young people through to 10th grade Confirmation and beyond to their Senior Year. Students meet twice a month for 90 minutes (once as a group and once in a gender specific setting). Our co-ed group is taught by me, with topics that include teen issues that are discussed both secularly as well as through ancient and current Jewish texts. Our Young Woman’s group “Rosh Chodesh: It's A Girl's Thing” is taught by Ariella Gutman, a law student with experience in implementing the “Moving Traditions” program. This class focuses primarily on Jewish-related issues geared toward young women. Our Young Men’s group focuses primarily on Jewish related issues geared toward young men. In addition, special class trips and events are being planned. We enjoy our pizza and discussions ranging from school violence to the death penalty and everything in between. With three aspects to our program: 1. Coed; 2. Rosh Codesh: It’s A Girl Thing; 3. Our young men ONLY group, our teens are enjoying the opportunity of continued Jewish learning in a fun yet educational experience. If you haven’t already, please consider enrolling your child in this wonderful program… it’s never too late for continued Jewish education. |
